Sixty Years of Sharp

A family-run knife and tool sharpening business, established in Dartford around 1960, rated 5.0 from 35 reviews on Google.

Two Generations, One Trade

Beltrami Sharpening Services was established around 1960 and has been keeping blades sharp for the catering trade and households of Dartford, Kent and London ever since. The skills have been carefully passed from father to son, two generations of cutlers with a combined sixty years of experience.

We are not a jack of all trades. We are masters of one, and that one thing is a perfect edge. Today Mik carries on the family name, treating every blade, from a single kitchen knife to a full catering kitchen, with the same care.

What We Do

From a single chef’s knife to a full restaurant, from garden shears to dressmaker’s scissors, if it should be sharp, we sharpen it. Every blade is hollow ground and hand finished for a genuine razor edge.

The Two-Phase Process

Every blade is individually hollow ground on professional machines, so the steel is evenly thinned to exactly the right thickness. It is then hand finished on a traditional Italian grinding wheel to a razor-sharp finish.

Two phases, entirely by hand, on every single knife. It is slower than a machine-only edge, but it is why our customers tell us their blades come back sharper than the day they were bought.

“What a lovely fella Mik is. He was able to sharpen 4 chef’s knives to a very high standard while I waited. Will definitely be recommending and returning soon.” — Ben Price
